Getting ready for the Journey for Justice – Reflecting on Yassin’s case

On August 5, 2004, a news conference about the arrests of Yassin Aref and Mohammed Hossain was held at the United States Department of Justice in Washington, DC.

James Comey, then the Deputy Attorney General (now President Obama’s nominee for the director of the FBI) said:

“Let me say a word about what this case is and what it is not.  This is not a case connected to the current terrorist threat.  This is not a case where the defendants were discovered plotting terrorist violence.”

So, if the Aref-Hossain case is not connected to any terrorist threat or about plotting any terrorist violence, then why are these two men in prison?
